Education Equals Hope’s original site, Carmen Bajo, is where our founder, Cameron Vivanco, met Laura Farango and filled a need in the community, providing hope for Laura and for future students.
As with many of E=H’s program sites, a majority of the population of Carmen Bajo live beneath the poverty line (making less than $87 USD per week). Many struggle with alcoholism, drug abuse, gang activity, and teenage pregnancy.
Carmen Bajo provides academic support to students in their community. So far, 673 sponsorships have helped students receive an education.
